Bohemian Grove

Bohemian Grove

Story

Bohemian Grove is a large private retreat located in northern California and owned by the Bohemian Club of San Francisco. Every summer since the late nineteenth century, the camp hosts politicians, business leaders, financiers, military officials, artists, and other influential figures for several weeks. The site is particularly known for its extreme privacy. Meetings take place behind closed doors, and participants are encouraged not to disclose what is discussed. This secrecy has given rise to numerous conspiracy theories. One of the most famous elements is a ceremony known as the "Cremation of Care." During this symbolic event, an effigy representing worldly worries is burned in front of a giant owl statue. Some observers view the ceremony as harmless theater marking the beginning of the gathering. Others believe it reflects hidden rituals or secret practices. The most popular theories claim that Bohemian Grove serves as a meeting place where major political, economic, or geopolitical decisions are discussed. The historical presence of U.S. presidents, senior government officials, billionaires, and corporate executives has fueled these speculations. However, no public evidence has demonstrated that official decisions are secretly made there. Historians generally describe Bohemian Grove as an exclusive social and networking retreat. Nevertheless, Bohemian Grove remains one of the most mysterious and controversial locations associated with Western elites.
