Story
SCP-049 is a humanoid entity resembling a seventeenth-century plague doctor.
The entity wears a long black robe and a distinctive beaked mask. Although these features appear to be clothing, SCP Foundation analyses indicate that they are actually part of its physical body.
SCP-049 claims to be fighting a mysterious condition that it simply refers to as "the Pestilence." However, it is unable to provide a clear definition of what this disease actually is.
When SCP-049 makes direct physical contact with a person, it is capable of causing instant death.
Afterward, it usually performs a bizarre surgical procedure on the victim's body in an attempt to "cure" them. Subjects altered in this way return to life as anomalous entities that are obedient but lack normal human behavior.
Despite its disturbing appearance, SCP-049 is often polite, calm, and cooperative with Foundation personnel, provided it believes its work is not being obstructed.
