Operation Mainbrace

Operation Mainbrace was one of NATO's largest military exercises during the early Cold War. Conducted in September 1952 in the North Sea and Norwegian Sea, it involved more than 80,000 personnel, hundreds of aircraft, and numerous warships. The exercise was designed to demonstrate NATO's collective defense capabilities against potential Soviet aggression.
